WATER CONSERVATION

WaterWater conservation stretches the precious supply of fresh water from rivers, stream and reservoirs farther. Saving water also saves energy; 6.5 percent of the energy used in California is for pumping and treating water (source: monolake.org). Using less water also lessens the pressure on sewage treatment facilities.

At the Pasadena Convention Center water-conserving plumbing fixtures are predicted to reduce water consumption 37 percent. These fixtures include:

• Low-flow toilets.
• Waterless urinals.

Other water-conscious efforts include:

• Water efficient landscaping. The landscaping does not feature grass, which requires large amounts of water to maintain. Instead, the planters are filled with drought resistant native plants.
• Storm water run-off used for irrigation.
