RESPONSIBLE COMMUTINGAutomobiles create traffic congestion, air pollution and the need for more concrete parking lots. If just 10 percent of the nation’s workforce took public transportation one day a week, they would reduce air pollution by 12, 913 tons, and conserve 1.2 million gallons of fuel each week (source: National Environmental Policy Institute). The Pasadena Convention Center offers the following to encourage responsible commuting: - The facility is just one-half mile from the Gold Line commuter rail station and within walking distance of three bus stops, encouraging use of public transportation.
- For employees, the facility features alternate transportation amenities, including bike storage and changing facilities.
- Preferred parking for employee carpools and vanpools is available.
- Incentives for those using public transportation are being offered.
- No additional parking spaces have been added, even though the building’s size has doubled.
